Open Knowledge Exchanges (OKE)
The ICA is proud to present OKE (Open Knowledge Exchanges), its new exchange platform aimed at archives professionals …. and others too!
In response to requests made on our previous website, this exchange platform, like other social networks, allows you to share your experiences and to debate the important issues that confront the profession.
The platform is primarily interactive, offering its members the opportunity to comment, publicly or privately, on topics raised and to test projects in the course of their development.
In short, this space is specifically designed for members to participate in exchange and debate.
Open to all, OKE invites anyone who is interested to join in the discussions and put forward their point of view on the questions of the moment: ICA sections, regional branches, project teams, members, non-members… everyone can find a place in OKE.
ICA will host the platform and be responsible for choosing the topics for debate, while the debates themselves will be monitored by an editor. A summary of these exchanges will feature on the website and can also appear as themes in other forums (conferences, articles published in professional journals etc.)
This month the first debate will focus on the question of climate change. What impact might climate change have on archives? How can we preserve the memory of the debates that are held on this subject? What archival sources are relevant for the study of climate over very long timescales?
There are so many ideas to explore which will benefit from your personal experience, your opinions and your reading.
So visit http://oke.ica.org now.
