Post-graduate master course in records management at the German school of archives in Marburg
Date Added:4 May 2012
The school of archives (Archivschule) in the German city of Marburg is launching a new education course in records management. The two-year post-graduate “Master of Records Management” shall start in 2012/13.
It is aimed at university graduates with appropriate professional experience, i.e. two years career at least. A mandatory attendance of 21 weeks in Marburg is required. Furthermore, the students will use e-learning tools and study independently. It is intended to enable the future graduates of the Master course to manage and supervise a records management center of a private company or of a public office and to introduce document management or electronic records management systems.
In Germany, records management has not been taught at university level until now. Therefore, the Marburg school of archives wants to broaden its course program in order to react in response to the increasing regulatory, technical and compliance requirements of information management.
The application deadline will be the 15 July 2012.
Since 1949, the archives school in Marburg in the heart of Germany is a central place of archival education and research. The Master of Records Management will be a important addition to the school’s range of education and training.
