Who are Flying Reporters?

Norsuriaty AWANG HASSIM

Norsuriaty AWANG HASSIM works for the National Archives of Malaysia. She served her department for the past eight years in various branches including  Electronic Records Advisory Services, Exhibition, Documentation, Public Relation and currently with National Special Research Section. To develop her career, she has followed Master at Curtin University of Technology, Perth, Australia on February 2010.

 

Marieta BA

Marieta BA was born in1984 in Saint Louis, Senegal. She is currently a student at the EBAD (Ecole des bibliothécaires, archivistes et documentalistes), Dakar, Senegal, from which she will graduate with a professional degree in Information sciences.

 

Anne Bast

Anne BAST, is the Intellectual Property Associate for the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art where she explores her interest in IP issues and access in online collections. Before moving to California, Anne completed an 18-month course of study at the Institut National du Patrimoine (INP) in Paris, France, with a specialization in archives. While at the INP she interned with numerous organizations including the ICA (with whom she travelled as a Flying Reporter to Kuala Lumpur and the DLM Forum), the Archives Départementales du Val d'Oise (France), and the World Health Organization in Geneva. Anne received her Master of Science in Information from the University of Michigan in 2009.

 

Elodie Baumann

Elodie BAUMANN was born in France where she has passed the literary baccalaureate with mention and followed studies of literature before turning to the world of documentation and information. In 2006, she underwent a practical training in the library of the University of Geneva (Unimail), another in the Office for Secondary School and finally in a public library in France. She has started the Geneva School of Business Administration in 2008 in the branch of information sciences where she will obtain a Bachelor of Sciences Information in 2011.

 

OCT Fabine Bordeles

Fabien BORDELES, aged 35, is currently in charge of archives at the Institute of Research for Development (IRD - France). He graduated in Contemporary History from the University of Bordeaux III (France) and holds a Master degree of Technical Records and Archives from the University of Mulhouse. He worked 7 years in Madagascar as a technical assistant for French cooperation in the field of records and archives management on three different institutional projects: recovery of civil register and land archives; digitization of photo archives. Previously, he also worked at the National Archives (France), and at the Archives départementales of Gironde and Yvelines. He is a member of the association "Archivists Without Borders" (ASF - France) and of the Association of French Archivists (AAF). He attended the 2008 International Congress in Kuala Lumpur as a Flying Reporter.

 

Beatriz CASNATI

Beatriz CASNATI GUBERNA is from Montevideo, Uruguay. She has got a degree in dentistry and was an associate Professor at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of the Republic. In 2007, she graduated from the University School of Library and Related Sciences (UDELAR) with the title of archivist. From July 2007 to date, she has been working the Archivo General de la Nación serving on the project "Guide of archives in Uruguay ", and is responsible for the reading room. She is a member of the association Archivists without boundaries (Uruguay). 

 

Grégoire CHAMPENOIS

Grégoire CHAMPENOIS, French, graduate in Archives sciences, worked for two years in the National Memory Archive (Ministry of Human Rights of Argentina). He has been working for five years in various archives services. Grégoire has published an article on the "Archives of the Memory" and participated as a speaker at the First National Seminar on archival practice and Archives of the Memory (August 2009) held in Buenos Aires. Today, Grégoire is leading a team working for the reorganization and digitization of the archives of the Maison départementale des Personnes handicapées des Hauts de Seine in France. 

 

Alice Chateau

Alice CHATEAU is a French archivist, currently working as the assistant chief of the Mission of the French National archives within the Ministry of the Interior, and contributing to, under the supervision of ICA,  the translation in French of the "Principles and functional requirements for records in electronic office environments". She holds a BA (DEUG) in history and a Master's degree in archives at the University of Versailles - Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines. She is also graduated of the Institute for political studies of Lyon - Institut d'études politiques de Lyon - and first-class honours student of the New Zealand National centre for research on European studies in 2004. While she was a student, she had the opportunity to do abroad interships at The National Archives -TNA - of the United Kingdom and at the Scottish catholic archives - SCA. 

 

Ineke Deserno

Ineke DESERNO, is an archivist and records manager. She completed her master's degree in History followed by post graduate education at the School for Archives School in the Netherlands. She further completed a Certificate in Advanced Studies in records and archives at the University of British Columbia. She currently is a Records manager at NATO. She has over 14 years experience working at International Organisations. She is an active member of the ICA and ARMA International. She has given various presentations at conferences and seminars, and has published articles on archives and recordkeeping. She was a member of the Flying Reporters team in Kuala Lumpur in 2008 and in Malta 2009.

 

Luca FAGGIN

Luca FAGGIN is Italian and registered medical assistant. He has collaborated in various projects related to Human Rights and the preservation of collective memory in Argentina, since his arrival in Buenos Aires in 2005. He has been working for two years in the team developing the archival project "Reconstructing Memory Because there is another history", implemented by the National Archives for the Memory (Secretary of State for Human Rights). His interest in archival practice applied to the memory is further reflected with his participation in a number of  seminars on the subject. 

 

Arthur Faye

Arthur FAYE, born in 1986 in Thies, Senegal, is currently a student at the EBAD (Ecole des bibliothécaires, archivistes et documentalistes), Dakar, Senegal, from which he will graduate with a professional degree in Information sciences.

 

OCT Margarita FERNANDEZ VARELA

Margarita FERNANDEZ VARELA is from Montevideo, Uruguay. She graduated as an archivist from the University School of Library Science at the University of the Republic of Uruguay, in 2007. She served as an archivist in different positions: at the University of the Republic; at the Law School in 2005 and 2007; contributing to a digitization project of Historical Archives; at the University Archives (AGU). She currently works as a Research Assistant at the Film Institute (University of the Republic). She contributed to the "Guide of Archives in Uruguay" and to the assessment of the SERPAJ archives (Servicio Paz y Justicia - Uruguay). She also served in the Photography Centre of the Municipality of Montevideo. She is a member of the association Archivists without boundaries (Uruguay).

 

Lourdes Funtes Hashimoto

Lourdes FUENTES-HASHIMOTO was born in Mexico city but studied in France and has been living in this country ever since 2001. She is a historian and an archivist, holding a master degree in contemporary history of the University of Bordeaux and a master degree in information technologies of the Ecole nationale des chartes with a focus on archival studies. She worked as an archivist at the Jacques Doucet Literary Library in Paris while carrying out her degree in archival studies in 2009 and then at the Association des Archivistes Français, the French professional body for archivists and records managers. She is currently in charge of the electronic records management programme at the Archives départementales of Seine-Saint-Denis. 

 

 Nancy Gadoury-small

Nancy GADOURY is a librarian and an archivist at the Health and social services center of North of Lanaudiere, an organization composed of a hospital, nine local of community services centers, two psychiatrics services, three addiction rehabilitation centers and ten residential and long-term care centers for the elderly. She is responsible for the library intended for the employees and for the update of the department of the administrative archives (elaboration of the project of updating and management of the documentary tools, renovation of premises, setting-up of the new software, deployment in various management within the department, the processing of archives). She has a master’s degree in information science (library science and archival science) and a master's degree in history. She dreams that her organization will become one of the earliest Health and social services center of Canada to offer access to its historical archives.

 

OCT Jesus Monzon

Jesús MONZON is a professor in Library and Information Sciences with a special focus on Archives at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA). He is preparing a Master's thesis in Conservation and Restoration of Artistic and Bibliographical Heritage at the National University of San Martín. He currently leads the project team "Reconstructing Memory Because there is another History" at the National Archives for Memory (Ministry of Human Rights of Argentina), and is responsible for the CESPA archives (Center for the Study of the Situation and Prospects in Argentina, Faculty of Economics, UBA).

 

Jorge Gomez Garcia

Jorge GÓMEZ GARCIA was born in Barakaldo (Vizcaya, Spain) in 1970. BA in Law (1995), MA in International Commerce (2000), he also holds a degree on Archival Studies (2008). After starting a career in public administration, he moved to the private sector and worked for an international energy company for seven years. In January 2008 the Ministry of Culture of Spain recruited him as assistant archivist and, shortly afterwards, he joined the staff of the National Archives of Spain, Nobility Department (Toledo, Spain). Currently, his main responsabilities are related to the fields of archival description and digitalisation. As a researcher he works currently on classification and indexing applied to personal and family archives.

 

Fatou Ngom

Fatou NGOM is an archivist at the Ministry of Economy and Finances of Senegal, and a member of the technical committee responsible for implementing the action plans from a study on records and archives management requirements. In 2006 she graduated from the EBAD (Ecole des bibliothécaires, archivistes et documentalistes), Dakar, Senegal. She is an individual member of ICA. In 2005 she participated in the course "Theory and archival practices" organized by the Archives of France and in 2007 attended the International Technical Workshop at the Direction des Archives de France. She presented her achievements at the 2008 International Congress.

 

Daniel Oliviera

Born and raised in Portugal, Daniel OLIVEIRA studied history, followed by a specialization course in documentary sciences. Currently, he is finishing a master of Information Management (archives and records management) at Curtin University, Australia, and coordinates a temporary project that consists of appraising inactive records of a Public body in Lisbon. Daniel started his early career in Portugal and in Cape Verde where he did voluntary work and some internships in several archives. In 2007, he had the unique opportunity to join the e-Domec project and to work in archival policy at the European Commission, Belgium, for 5 months. He then worked as junior records manager at the European Court of Auditors in Luxembourg. In late 2008, Daniel was awarded with a Europe Endeavour Award by the Australian Government. He moved to Australia to undertake the first year of his master. Daniel has been collaborating with the ICA since the 16th Congress that took place in Malaysia. He aims to work in the information management field in an international environment. 

 

Javi Requero

Javi REQUEJO is an archivist of the Spanish Ministry of Culture. He was born in 1981 in Valladolid, Spain, and until 2006 he studied History, Social Sciences of the Present Moments and Archives & Records Management at the University of Valladolid and the University Jaume I of Alicante. When he finished his studies, he worked as historian and researcher in various spanish archives until 2009, when he joined to the Public State Administration, attached to the General Subdirectorate of State Archives of the Ministry of Culture, as member of the Archives Coordination Area. Since 2009, he has specialized in the Development and Implementation of a Quality Management System in the National Archives and also he has been participating in some archives standardization groups, eg, the AENOR Technical Committee 50 - Subcommitee 1 “Document Management and Applications” or the Working Group for the development of the Spanish Interoperability Framework.

 

 

OCT Jürg SCHLEGEL

Jürg SCHLEGEL is a student from the Swiss-German speaking part of Switzerland. After a practical training in the library and archives of the World Council of Churches in Geneva, he decided to start his bilingual (French/German) studies of information sciences at the Geneva School of Business Administration in 2008. He will finish his studies in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science.

 

Martin Stahl

Martin STAHL: I was born in December 1978 in Stockholm, Sweden. I studied History, German and Archives science at the Universities of Stockholm, Vienna and Salzburg and got my degree in 2004. I have combined my studies with longer stays in Germany and Scotland. Since August 2006 I have been working for the Stockholm City Archives, where I´m involved in the Supervision of the Records Management at the Authorities in and around Stockholm. One important task in this work is to encourage the agencies to transfer their digital information to our new electronic archive. As an historian and a keen family researcher, I have a passion for historical records just as much as for modern information management and I find different methods how to make the archival sources known to the public very interesting. I have also a great interest in international questions concerning archives.

 

OCT Ndéye TEYDEME DIALLO

Ndéye TEYDEME DIALLO was born in 1988 in Goudiry, Senegal. She is currently a student at the EBAD (Ecole des bibliothécaires, archivistes et documentalistes), Dakar, Senegal from which she will graduate with a professional degree in Information sciences.

 

OCT María Alejandra VILLAR ANLLUL

María Alejandra VILLAR ANLLUL is from Montevideo, Uruguay. She graduated first as a Master of Elementary Education, then in 2007 she graduated as an archivist from the University of the Republic - College of Library and Related Sciences. She has a particular interest in public records and archives and the relationship between governments, creators, and archives. She works for the National Archives of Uruguay, as head of the Division of General Documentation. Since December 2008 she is Assistant Professor delivering courses on records creation and at the School of Library and Related Sciences, University of the Republic. She is member of the association "Archivists without boundaries" (Uruguay).
