European Committee for Sport History (CESH) Congress in Pisa, 17-20 September 2009

Kenth Sjöblom, ICA/SPO Chair, led a round table session on strategies for preserving and maintaining sports archives during 2009 CESH Congress in Pisa.
The session was entitled "Sports archives - a sense of no limits". Kenth opened the session and introduced presentations by Patrizia Ferrara on the general situation of Italian sports archives and action plans for improving the situation (Ministerio dei Beni Culturali e Ambientali), Umberto Rampa and Olga Colazingari on the digitisation of CONI´s collections, and finally Mike Huggins (University of Cumbria) on a researcher's view on the importance of sports archives.
The presentations were followed by a general discussion and with comments from the audience, suggesting , for instance, a renewed action towards decision-makers in the EU. During its General Assembly CESH also decided to join SPO as an institutional member.
