Sporting Cities
The sporting Cities project has been proposed by the Section for Local, Municipal and Territorial Archives (SLMT) with support from SPO.
The project proposes the creation of a website which provides a definitive online directory of resources and archives relating to the Olympic Games recording where material is held and how it can be accessed.
Certain ‘essential sources' will be digitised but in general this is not a full digitisation programme. In addition to the directory, it is proposed that the research strand of the project will analyse the role which ‘the city' has played in the development of the games and equally, how the games have been an instrument for social change and the development of the built environment in the host city.
