Thanks for visiting the ICA website ! The International Council on Archives is committed to preservation and use of the World's documentary heritage through a number of processes including developing a capable professional workforce of archivists, raising awareness of the role of archives in enabling democratic societies and human rights, and supporting governments to develop strong records keeping practice to support good governance and transparency.

The ICA is an independent, non-governmental, international organisation. It is funded solely from its membership which comprises over 1, 400 members in over 198 countries and territories, including institutions and individuals from both the state and private sectors. The ICA works closely with other international partners such as UNESCO and the International Committee of the Blue Shield.

For the public

By talking we can all share and learn, exploiting membership of a worldwide organisation and letting the world know about our successes, small or large. ICA is committed to ensuring all ICA members can talk freely and easily to each other, regardless of location, resources or technology. With this in mind the ICA is developing a range of communication channels for all its membership to use.
