Planning Freeze on the new Cologne City Archive Building
Planning Freeze on the new Cologne City Archive Building – the German Association of Archivists calls on all members to sign the on-line petition
Email from the Chief Executive of the German Association of Archivists:
" Dear Members of our Professional Association,
During the past few days the Board of the German Association of Archivists (VdA) has been dismayed and indignant on following the media coverage of the moratorium on the new Cologne City Archive building (see: http://www.ksta.de/koeln/sparvorschlaege-planungsstopp-fuer-koelner-stadtarchiv,15187530,22401430.html ).
The profession cannot accept the current political decisions! We are urgently calling on all members of the German Association of Archivists to support by signing the on-line petition to repeal the planning freeze initiated by colleague and VdA member Thomas Wolf (Siegen). Please also draw the petition to the attention of colleagues as well as friends and acquaintances.
The on-line petition is here: https://www.openpetition.de/petition/online/fuer-die-aufhebung-des-planungsstopps-fuer-den-neubau-des-historischen-archivs-der-stadt-koeln .
Many thanks in advance for your support and best wishes from
Thilo Bauer

Protection of Personal Data
ICA, during its Executive Board of March 14-15 2013, received the press release from the Association des archivistes français (AAF) on the proposed fate of personal data contained in a draft European regulation. ICA entirely shares the concerns expressed by France that this regulation could pave the way for the mass and indiscriminate destruction of personal data, much of which is of continuing administrative and enduring historical value.
