Under the gracious patronage of the Deputy Secretary general of the government of Mali, the National Archives of Mali celebrated, for the first time, International Archives Day on June, 9 2010.

The celebration was inspired by the fifty years of the country's accession to national sovereignty.

The Deputy Secretary General of the Government called for "a surge of consciousness for the protection of archives in the world."

Two conferences were organized in the framework of  the IAD: the first one, dealing with "Fifty years of archives management in Mali" was lead by the Director of the National Archives of Mali. The second one was an opportunity to address the "Challenges for Archives and the profession in the Society of Information and Communication".

An Open Day was also organized in the premises of the National Archives. Finally, an exhibition of photographs commemorated the history of Sudan through Mali archives.
