International Council of Archives

Approved by the Executive Committee at its 14-15 April 1994 meeting, the logo of the International Council on Archives sets the twin focus of archives on the past and the future. The image symbolically describes the evolution and the understanding of human thought expressed through various forms, from the first signs of writing to the digitized chip. It further evokes the movement, the exchange, the circulation of information contained in archives. In summary, the logo of the International Council on Archives reflects the nature of archives and their purpose: a collective memory to be preserved for the benefit of contemporary society, and of generations to come.

The International Council on Archives or individuals creating any ICA material are required to use the official ICA logo. You can download it in .pdf below.

The logo must be used in all published material, and marketing and promotional activities associated with ICA. This includes: newsletters, brochures, flyers, press releases, books, magazines, catalogues, advertisements, programmes, labels and covers of digital media, etcetera.

LOGO AND COLOUR

The ICA logo's official colours are dark blue (pantone 2767) or sandy (pantone 7514)
For compositions referred to as 'premium' a mat gold may be used (pantone 10107)

The CMYK colour values are:
Blue: C: 94% M: 88% Y: 30% K: 26%
Sandy: C: 18% M: 31% Y: 36% K: 0%

In black and white documents, the blue colour is replaced by a grey:
Grey cyan 61% magenta 52% yellow 48% black 19%

The coloured ICA logo must always be positioned on a white background.
If the document has a coloured background, the logo may be black or white.
If the logo is black, the logo must be placed in a white inset with a margin of at least 5mm.
If the logo is white, a margin of at least 5 mm must be maintained.

It is not allowed to add colours or alter the logo in any other way.

ABOUT THE FONT

The font of the ICA logo is ITC Bauhaus.
The font for printed material is Arial.
