The International Archives Day 2012 in Belgium
In Wallonia and in Brussels
All over the world, and for the first time in Wallonia and in Brussels, archivists are joining together on 9 June to allow you discover the unique heritage that they preserve. This will also be an opportunity to take you behind the scenes of a profession that is not generally well-known.
Some fifteen archives are opening their doors on this exceptional day: the General Directorate of the Victims of War (SPF social security), the Municipal Archives of Brussels, Ath and Mons, the State Archives at Arlon, Mons and Saint-Hubert, the records centre of the Royal Museum of the Army and Military History, the Centre for the Communist Archives of Belgium (CARCOB), the Mundaneum, the Preservation of the industrial archives of Couchant de Mons (Saicom), the Museum of Walloon life, the Daily-Bul & Co Centre, Etopia.
With guided visits, exhibitions, conferences, film shows and workshops, archivists will transport you back in time and immerse you in the political, cultural, sporting and industrial history of our country.
