International Archives Day
The International Archives Day 2012 in Malaysia
In conjunction with the International Archives Day celebration this year, National Archives of Malaysia will be organizing a National Level Seminar entitled “Transformation of Records Management in the Public Sector: Embracing An e-Environment Work Culture’. The four days seminar will be held from 18 – 21 June 2012. The first two days will be attended by public service officers from various Ministries, Government Departments, Agencies, Statutory Bodies and Government Linked Companies. The last two days are allocated for Archivists, Academicians, Vendors and others from the industry. Two experts from Australia Ms. Judith Ellis from Enterprise Knowledge Pty. Ltd. and Ms. Georgina Grey from National Archives of Australia have been invited as guest speakers in the seminar.
Besides the seminar, National Archives of Malaysia will also hold a Records Management Consultation Clinic to advice and help Ministries, Government Departments, Agencies, Statutory Bodies and Government Linked Companies in managing their records. A special exhibition on the Transformation of Records Management in Malaysia will be highlighted during the Seminar and one special feature of the exhibition is a dedicated panel for the Universal Declaration on Archives (UDA) which has been translated in the Malay language. Vendor booths on records management products and systems will be available to exhibit latest equipments and systems which will be available throughout the seminar. National Archives of Malaysia will also highlight the Malaysia Standard (MS 2223 Part 1 & 2) – the adaptation of the International Standard on Records Management ISO 15489, copies of which will be on sale during the seminar.
The Seminar will be officially opened by the Chief Secretary to the Government of Malaysia, Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Haji Hassan. At the same occasion, he will also officially launch the Archivists Transformation Strategic Plan and the e-disposal system for the Public Sector.
