IIAS 2012 international archival day and autumn archival school

On 22-23 October 2012, the 22nd International Archival Day took place in Trieste (Italy), organized by the International Institute for Archival Science of Trieste and Maribor. As in the past, the venue was the conference room at the NH Hotel (7 Corso Cavour - Trieste), where experts from all over the world considered the topics proposed by the Assembly of the Members of the IIAS: 1) Modern archive buildings; 2) Management of records in the new media. The event attracted many participants from Italy and other countries, who were able to continue the discussion in a roundtable after the expert speakers.

Immediately after the meeting, the Assembly of the Members of the IIAS took place, where the new President, Mr. Mauro Tosti-Croce (Italian Ministry for Cultural Goods and Assets) was elected. The topics for the 2013 meeting were chosen: 1: History of archives and archival science from 1950; 2: Communications among archives, libraries and museums and with the new generations.

The conference was followed by the 6th IIAS Autumn Archival School, consisting of lectures, given by Italian and foreign specialists, covering the topics discussed in the 22nd International Archival Day. The venues were the ISI classrooms at the University of Trieste and the State Archives of Trieste. In addition, in view of the celebrations relating to the centennial of the outbreak of World War One, to be held in 2014, a project developed in cooperation with the University of Trieste was presented, and the young archivists attending the course were asked to indicate which sources on this topic exist in their own archives

The Director of the IIAS is Peter Pavel Klasinc (Slovenia), and Grazia Tatò (Italy) is the Director of the IIAS Autumn Archival School. The Executive Committee also comprises Zdenka Semlic Rajh (Slovenia) and Antonio Monteduro (Italy). The personnel of the State Archives of Trieste support the management of these events.
