Geert Van Goethem (1957) is a Belgian historian. He currently is director of the Belgian Amsab-Institute of Social History and professor at the University of Ghent. His research focuses on international labour history and the history of international organizations. His recent publications include: - The Amsterdam International. The world of the International Federation of Trade Unions (IFTU), 1913-1945 (Aldershot, Ashgate, 2006) - ‘An International Experiment of Women Workers: The International Federation of Working Women, 1919-1924’, in: RODRIGUEZ GARCIA, M. (ed.), Labour Internationalism. Different times, different Faces, Revue Belge de Philologie et d’Histoire, 84, 2006, pp. 1025-1047. -‘Labor’s Second Front: The foreign policy of the American and British trade union movements during the Second World War’, in: Diplomatic History, 4 (34), 2010, pp. 663-681 He also is co-editor of ILO Histories. Essays on the International Labour Organization and Its Impact on the World During the Twentieth Century (Bern, Peter Lang, 2010).
