Has a PhD in Social History from the Universidade de São Paulo on the scientific status of archival description especially in personal archives. She graduated in History from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (1986) and graduated in Archival Science (1992) from the Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro. She has a Master in Information Science from the Instituto Brasileiro de Informação em Cíencia e Tecnologia/ Universidade Federal Fluminense (2006). She has worked as an archivist since 1987 and has experience in archival organization, records management, data bases for archival information, description, uses and users of archival material. After working in the National Archives of Brazil from 1988 to 1994, Lucia began to work as an archivist in Casa de Rui Barbosa, a foundation under the Ministry of Culture (Brazil) and since 2002 she has been the head of the Historical and Institutional Archives Services there. Lucia lectured at the Universidade Federal Fluminense (2007-2008) teaching the following disciplines: Reproduction of documents; Special Archives; Archival Fundamentals II, Permanent Archives and Archival Services Programmes. She has articles and conference papers published in scientific journals and proceedings and is the acting President of the Brazilian Archivists Society.
