Michelle Boshoff is a Photographic Archivist at the National Archives and Records Service of South Africa. She completed her studies in Photography in 2007 and the Advanced Programme in Archival Studies in 2010. Since 2008 she has been responsible for the photographic collection of the National Archives and undertaken various projects to advance the life span of the photographic collection and to improve the service delivery to the researchers nationally and internationally. Some of these projects include the audit of the collection in order to establish intellectual control over all photographs and a condition assessment of the collection to determine the level of damage to the photographs and possible proposed treatment solution for the conservation team. Her knowledge of the collection has enabled her to assist major museums, production companies and various entities in obtaining the photographic material and detailed information they need for their documentaries, research and exhibitions.
