SPP Conference Archives and Democracies in Transition, Vilnius, Lithuania 6-7 October 2011

The Fall Conference of the Section of Archives and Archivists of Parliaments and Political Parties (SPP) of the International Council of Archives (ICA) was held at the Lithuanian Parliament in Vilnius. The focus was on the activities of Eastern and Central European Parliamentary and Political archives in the last two decades.

The next ICA Emergency Management Programme's training session will be held in Porto-Novo (Benin) from June, 21th to 23rd. It is organized in collaboration with the National Archives of Bénin. 30 colleagues have been selected to attend the workshops. Protection of vital records, recovery and business continuity planning applied to records and archives management are the themes which will be tackled during this session. The National Archives of Australia awarded with the UNESCO/Jikji Memory of the World Prize

The Director-General of UNESCO has designated National Archives of Australia (NAA) as the laureate of the 2011 UNESCO/Jikji Memory of the World Prize for its work. The Prize-giving ceremony will take place in Cheongju City (Republic of Korea) on 2 September. ICA wishes to offer NAA its warmest congratulations on this well deserved award.
