The Ibero-american Migratory Movements Portal is open

Spain presented yesterday, taking the opportunity of the International Archives Day, the Ibero-american Migratory Movements Portal.

The project is co-ordinated by the State Archives Department of the Spanish Ministry of Culture (Subdirección de los archivos Estatales) to promote and facilitate access to documents on Spanish emigration to Iberoamerica during the Modern Age. The portal is giving access to more than 30.000 records of emigrants from the Archivo general de la Administración of Spain, from the Archivo general de la Nación of Mexico and of the Dominican Republic, but will soon be enriched with documents from the National Archives of Cuba. Research is facilitated by a dedicated browser and the incorporation of finding aids in the portal.

El Ministerio de Cultura español presentó ayer, con motivo del día internacional de los archivos, el Portal de Movimientos Migratorios Iberoamericanos.

Este proyecto, coordinado por la Subdirección General de los Archivos Estatales, se ha desarrollado con el objetivo de fomentar y facilitar el acceso a los fondos documentales relativos a la emigración española y exilio a Iberoamérica en época contemporánea.

El Portal inicia su andadura con 30.000 registros de emigrantes, procedentes de la documentación custodiada por el Archivo General de la Administración (España) y los Archivos Generales de la Nación de México y República Dominicana. En breve, también se incorporará documentación del Archivo Nacional de Cuba.

El Portal incorpora una Guía de fuentes para el estudio de la emigración española a Iberoamérica y un buscador que permite utilizar distintos filtros onomásticos, geográficos y cronológicos.
