The Director-General of the National Archives of Mexico, Jorge Ruiz Dueñas, has been elected President of the ALA Regional Branch for the period from 2007 to 2011 at the ALA General Assembly, which took place on 2 July in Costa Rica.

He will serve as a member of the Executive Board of ICA in succession to Jaime Antunes de Silva, Director-General of the National Archives of Brazil.
