ELECTIONS 2010 – RESULTS

ICA members will wish to know the results of two contested elections, for the posts of ICA President and ICA Vice-President, Marketing and Promotion. The deadline for the receipt of completed ballot papers in the ICA Secretariat was 11 April, midnight Paris time. On the morning of Monday 12 April two independent scrutineers examined the ballot papers and verified the accuracy of the count.

The total number of votes cast was 154, out of a possible total of 423. This represents a participation rate of 36.4%. Two of these votes were declared invalid. A more detailed break-down of participation by membership category will be published at a later date.

The number of votes cast for each of the candidates in the two contests, as validated by the scrutineers, was as follows:-

On the completion of the count, Henri Zuber, Election 2010 Officer, declared that Martin Berendse has been elected ICA President 2010-12 and Vu Thi Minh Huong Vice-President, Marketing and Promotion, for the same period. Both of these newly elected officers will take up their posts at the conclusion of the next Annual General Meeting in Oslo in September 2010.

We offer the warmest congratulations to Martin Berendse and Vu Thi Minh Huong on their election. ICA members throughout the world wish them every success in their new posts and assure them of their loyalty and support. We also thank Graham Dominy and Abdulla El Reyes for their positive participation in this contest and for their important contributions to ICA. We hope that they will both remain active in the ICA network.
