Questionnaire on the ICA Code of Ethics: Results and Recommendations

One of the resolutions passed at the CITRA meeting in 2006 was ‘to ask for the revision of the ICA Code of Ethics as a fundamental reference for the guidance of individual archivists’. The current Code, passed at the General Assembly of the ICA at its meeting in Beijing, China in 1996, had since been adopted by many associations worldwide, and to date has been translated into 25 languages. It is available on the ICA website: http://www.ica.org. In order to determine how the Code has been used, a questionnaire was complied (in English, French and Spanish) and distributed by members of the SPA Steering Committee and SPA member associations, as well as posted on various national listservs and the central ICA website.

 

Una de de las resoluciones de la última reunión de la CITRA en 2006 fue “preguntar acerca de la revisión del Código Ético como referencia fundamental para la orientación del trabajo de los archiveros”. El Código actual aprobado por la Asamblea General celebrada en Beijing, China, en 1996, ha sido adoptado desde entonces por distintas asociaciones de todo el mundo y ha sido traducido a 25 idiomas.
Para intentar conocer la utilidad del Código, se ha elaborado (en inglés, francés y español) una encuesta y se ha distribuido entre los miembros de la SPA, así como entre distintas listas de distribución y en la web del ICA. Adjuntamos la encuesta a este informe.
