The second ICA annual conference, jointly organized by the International Council on Archives and Girona City Council, through its Municipal Archive, will take place in Girona, Spain on 13-15 October 2014 at the Girona Convention Centre: http://www.gironacongressos.org/
This event will coincide with the celebration of the 9th European Conference on Archives (ECA), organized every four years by the European Branch of the International Council on Archives (EURBICA) and the 13th Image and Research Seminar.
The Conference title is “Archives and Cultural Industries”. The programme seeks to address the following issues: how collections of documents should be organized, described, digitized and disseminated to facilitate access and enhance their value; the new businesses dealing with the creation and distribution of digital content and how can collaboration between the public and private sectors be articulated to advance business creation; what the interests and cultural consumption habits of the general population are, and what future trends may arise. These are the major themes that international experts in the profession will be tackling during the course of this historic conference.
