On October 17th 2018, the National Records and Archives Authority (NRAA) participated in the celebrations of  Arab Document Day in the ARBICA’s headquarter in Egypt. The celebration was under the patronage of Her Excellency the Minister of Culture of Egypt and in the presence of a large number of Excellencies, Heads of Arab Archives Institutions and specialists in the field of document. The ceremony started with a speech delivered by HE. Dr. Nevin Mohamed Mousa, President of the National Archives and the Secretary General of ARBICA.
 As part of the celebrations, a symposium was held under the title “The Risks Faced by Arab Archives and Ways of Addressing Them” in coordination with the National Archives of Egypt. In the course of the symposium, HE Dr. Hamed Bin Mohammed Al-Dhawyani delivered a speech highlighting  the importance of being aware to the Risks face Arab archives and addressing them. Furthermore, HE stated that this symposium is especially designed to enhance the preservation of nations’ memory. Also, HE urged all officials in the field of Archives to maintain cooperation through exchanging experiences, organizing conferences and symposiums and to facilitate the scientific researches. Moreover, he stressed the essential role of the archival institutions in preserving the treasures of the deep-rooted  history to remain a witness for the future generations. At the end of his speech, HE appreciated efforts paid by the organizers and participants and stressed the role played by the ICA in supporting the documentation sector in international organizations and the regional branches.
On the sidelines, number of papers were presented by researchers and specialists from different Arab countries in the field of document, beside a paper entitled “Arab Archives: Risks of War, Conflicts and ways of Protection” presented by Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Kharousi, the representative of the NRAA and the Director of Research and Studies Department.
