La 61ème Conférence annuelle du Département d’information des Nations Unies et des ONG se tiendra cette année à Paris, à l’UNESCO, du 3 au 5 septembre sur le thème « Réaffirmer les droits de l’Homme pour tous : la Déclaration universelle a 60 ans ». 2000 représentants d’ONG issus de 90 pays y sont attendus.

The 61st Annual Conference of the United Nations Department of Information and NGOs will take place this year in Paris at UNESCO from the 3rd to the 5th September on the topic of ‘Reaffirming Human Rights for all: the Universal Declaration at 60 years’. 2,000 representatives of NGOs from 90 countries are expected. A workshop entitled The Right to Know and the Right to Truth: How archival documents can be used to combat impunity will be dedicated to the presentation of the new report by Antonio Gonzalez Quintana, Archival Policy for the Defense of Human Rights, and his recommendations.

I bumped into this group while I was looking for some bibliographical references and information on the subject of Archives and Human Rights, and in particular on International Tracing Service Archive in Bad Arolsen.

After some discussion with the ica.org webmaster at the ICA Congress in Kuala Lumpur we have decided to move the ICA-AtoM project discussion list to GoogleGroups as we are not able to get all the functionality we require to facilitate the beta launch and testing in the near term with the current ica.org discussion list.

All subscribers to this list should receive an invite to join the GoogleGroup list in the next couple of days (as soon as Google approves my bulk subscription). Once you have accepted the invite you are able to post messages.

A common problem reported by conservation professionals and researchers is that they don't know that someone, somewhere has already produced the information that they need as part of a student research project. Students' bibliographical references can be extremely useful but are rarely seen outside their courses.
