Archives and Human Rights
décembre 21, 2007

The working group on Archives and Human Rights was established in 2003 at the International Conference of the Round Table on Archives (CITRA) in Cape Town, South Africa, to ensure follow up and coordination of the projects arising from the Conference resolutions http://www.ica.org/en/node/621.

At the launch of the campaign, by the United Nations and UNESCO, commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights http://www.un.org/events/humanrights/2007/index.shtml and http://portal.unesco.org/en/ev.php-URL_ID=41393&URL_DO=DO_TOPIC&URL_SECT...,
the group proposes to all colleagues and organizations interested in this topic a virtual space for sharing ideas and professional information. A newsletter will soon be distributed by this group.

I am very pleased to have just begun a position at the French National Archives, in the Ancien Régime section. While on leave from the French civil service over a number of years, I had university and research posts in Chile and the United States. Before my time in the academic world, I worked in French departmental archives, the Institut national de l'audiovisuel (film production archives of the French National TV) and at the Direction des Archives de France, in the division that sets archival policies and norms.
