Update Report on "Archives and Human Rights". Info on Workshop in Paris.
août 22, 2008

Dear Archives and Human Rights Group,

I bumped into this group while I was looking for some bibliographical references and information on the subject of Archives and Human Rights, and in particular on International Tracing Service Archive in Bad Arolsen.

In fact, I am intending to write an academic article on this subject dealing with it from a Transitional Justice perspective. I have just defended my PhD thesis in International Law at the University of Pisa on "Transitonal Justice: mixed and internationalized criminal courts and tribunals". In 2005 I published an academic article on "Developments in the field of the Right to the Truth” (in Italian), in La Comunità Internazionale, n. 3, Vol. LXI, 2006, 519 - 543. Therefore, I would like to keep researching in this particularly interesting and fascinating field.

Unfortunately, after an initial - and therefore superficial research of the sources - I have the impression that the state of the art concerning this subject is very little developed.

I am aware that the updated version of the first Antonio Quintana Report will be presented at UNESCO early September. I am planning to attend this workshop and meet some of you in order to share information and point of view on the issue.

I look forward to knowing the exact date of the workshop… I would be grateful to whom can help on this.

Thanks!
Isabella
