The ICA is pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for five members in good standing to participate in READY – Resilience for Heritage in the Face of Disasters, Climate Risks and Complex Emergencies, a comprehensive training programme led by the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM).
This initiative is part of ICA’s growing collaboration with ICCROM and our shared commitment to develop training collaborations for archivists and records professionals. The READY programme focuses on safeguarding heritage collections, living traditions, and practices in the face of disasters, extreme weather events, and complex emergencies.
About the Course
READY is a hybrid, interdisciplinary course that promotes a systems-based approach to managing risks for heritage collections—whether in archives, museums, libraries, or places of worship—as well as for living heritage and traditional knowledge systems.
Participants will gain practical skills and knowledge to:
- Assess and mitigate disaster and conflict risks to cultural heritage.
- Integrate climate change and socio-economic vulnerabilities into risk management strategies.
- Engage local communities by drawing on traditional knowledge to protect and strengthen resilience around at-risk heritage.
This course is fully funded. There is no participation fee, and ICCROM will cover all travel and accommodation costs for the in-person component. All you need is a strong commitment to learning and applying your skills to help safeguard our documentary and cultural heritage.
