The ICA Communications team is pleased to announce the launch of Archives in Practice, a new Members’ Content Hub designed to amplify the voices, experiences, and expertise of ICA members, and to strengthen the sense of community across our global professional network.

We are delighted to inaugurate this new space with the publication of the first member-authored blog:

“Unlocking the African Community Archives at a Time of Crisis: Shaping Inclusive Archival Futures in Africa.”

This contribution explores how partnerships beyond the traditional archival sector are shaping the future of archives in Africa. It reflects on collaborative approaches to community archiving, digital innovation, and inclusive knowledge production, and is part of a wider set of member contributions featured in the upcoming issue of Flash, dedicated to examining how cross-sector partnerships are influencing archival practice—from public engagement and policy development to sustainable resource management.

We invite you to read the full blog and discover the insights and experiences shared by our members, which enrich our collective understanding and strengthen our professional dialogue.

If you have any questions or would like to learn more about Archives in Practice, or if you are interested in contributing to this initiative, please contact us at communications@ica.org.
