The ICA Communications team is pleased to announce the release of the second member-authored blog on Archives in Practice, continuing our mission to highlight the voices, experiences, and expertise of ICA members worldwide.

We are delighted to feature the latest contribution:

“Increasing Partnerships and Connections – the Work of the ARA International Section”

Prepared by ARA International Committee members Isabel Lauterjung, Secretary, and Chloe Anderson-Wheatley, Chair, this contribution reflects on nearly two years of connecting an international community of archivists and recordkeepers through the UK & Ireland Archives and Records Association’s International Section.

It explores how the International Section fosters professional exchange, training, and collaboration for ARA members, particularly those working abroad or interested in international archival practice. It highlights a series of initiatives, including training events on oral history and trauma-informed practice, partnerships with regional archival associations in Europe, and ongoing efforts to facilitate knowledge exchange across borders.

This contribution offers insights into the practical strategies and experiences of international archival collaboration, demonstrating the value of networks that connect professionals across continents, professional standards, and cultural contexts.

We invite you to read the full contribution and discover the innovative ways ICA members are promoting global collaboration and advancing archival practice.
