Esperanto Joins the Universal Declaration on Archives
The ICA’s Expert Group on Advocacy is proud to announce that the Universal Declaration on Archives (UDA) will soon be available in Esperanto.
What is Esperanto? A Language for Global Understanding
Esperanto is the world’s most widely spoken constructed international auxiliary language. Created in 1887 by L. L. Zamenhof as la Lingvo Internacia (“the International Language”), Esperanto was designed to serve as a universal second language—easy to learn, politically neutral, and capable of fostering mutual understanding across national and cultural boundaries. Today, it is spoken by a global community and remains a living symbol of intercultural dialogue and cooperation.
The Esperanto translation of the UDA was prepared by Rubèn Fernández Asensio and officially reviewed and certified by the Language Committee of Esperanta Civito, an organisation representing Esperanto speakers as a stateless, diasporic language community.
Introducing the UDA to the Esperanto Community
The UDA and the ICA have already been presented to the Esperanto-speaking public at the recent Spanish Esperanto Congress, where the Declaration was introduced in a dedicated presentation:
