The Image and Research Conference (Antoni VarésConference) has been held in Girona since 1990 as a biennial meeting for professionals and researchers interested in the management of photographic and audiovisual heritage.
The conference offers a broad and interdisciplinary perspective, ranging from historical photography and cultural heritage management to archiving practices and new technologies, with an international program of speakers. The contributions are published in the conference proceedings. The digital publication of the papers from the 2024 Conference is now available here.
The 18th edition will take place on November 19–20, 2026, at the Auditori Palau de Congressos de Girona. Workshops will be held on November 18 and 21 at the Centre for Image Research and Dissemination.
