The sporting Cities project was proposed by the Section for Local, Municipal and Territorial Archives (SLMT) with support from the Section on Sport Archives.
Led by London Metropolitan Archives during the London 2012 games, the project created an online directory of resources and archives relating to the Olympic Games recording where material is held and how it can be accessed.
