China promotes ICA’s activities with social media

Nowadays, social media becomes so pervasive and influential that they have changed the methods of social information dissemination and human communication dramatically.Social media like WeChat, the most popular in China, has been widely used for its advantage of real-time interaction as well as rapid information dissemination by Internet platform and interpersonal relationship.

In Chinese archival community, there are about 400 Archival WeChat Official Account in 2017. As the first WeChat Official Account in the assessment of university research team, “About Archives” (WeChat ID: danxse), which actively responds to the call of ICA’s president and helps to translate ICA’s activities into Chinese, has caused wide concern in Chinese archival community.

For example, once got message from David Fricker for the International Archives Day 2017, “About Archives” published a bilingual version of the article (http://mp.weixin.qq.com/s/PVjnZK0h7ogCLYylS6d-KA) immediately to call for more Chinese people participating in this international activity. After the release of the article, the page view was up to 500 in a very short time, got many point praise and forward.

“About Archives” promotes International Archives Day 2017

Back in 2016, David Fricker appealed to more people to sign electronic signature online to celebrate the fifth anniversary of foundation of Universal Declaration on Archives (UDA) on Nov.10. “About Archives” published the bilingual news as well to call for participation in Chinese archival community. According to statistics, as of May 2017, the number of Chinese, who signed their name on UDA, has doubled after the release of the article!

“About Archives” also promotes Archives World Map project(http://mp.weixin.qq.com/s/q1J4M6IVALn-ZS31oj3H-A), which is conducted by Doctor Ricardo Sodré Andrade- the member of ICA. The editor of “About Archives” helps translated the map in mandarin for solving language barrier.
