Archivists and records managers working in different kinds of repositories often come up against the challenges of dealing with architectural documents.

The proper care of architectural records and archives is, therefore, a matter of natural concern for the international community of archival professionals and, consequently, for the International Council on Archives.

This issue of Comma is devoted to architectural records and is made up of three parts.

  1. The first one comprises two general overviews of the management of architectural records and archives in different regions of the world.
  1. The second part includes sixteen contributions covering a number of issues relevant to the management and archival care of architectural documents. Finally, the third part is devoted to the presentation of different kinds of tools for supporting the description of, and promoting access to, architectural records and archives.
