The Elected Officers and Secretariat of ICA wish to announce that the process for the selection of the International Congress Host in 2020 will start soon, in late November or early December 2015.  The selection criteria and guidelines are currently being revised, but will largely be based on the existing documentation relating to the Annual Conferences.

The main differences between a Quadrennial Congress and an Annual Conference are that the former normally take place on a larger scale, last at least one day longer, and are open to everyone (including non-ICA members) from the outset.
ICA is seeking expressions of interest at this stage, in order to enable the Secretariat to manage the later stages of the process in accordance with a clearly established timetable.  It is intended that, at its next meeting on 21-22 April 2016, the ICA Executive Board should recommend the selected Congress 2020 host for the final approval of the General Assembly in Seoul, South Korea, in September 2016.
It would be very helpful if any  ICA member institution, which is considering hosting the 2020 Congress, could register their interest with the ICA Secretariat (Congress2020@ica.org) by 25 November 2015 at the latest.
This registration process will not commit the member institution in any way, however  it will assist the Secretariat to ensure interested parties are kept informed as the selection process continues.
