Dear colleagues,
I am writing to inform you that as Secretary General, in consultation with the Elected Officers and in accordance with French government recommendations, I have decided to close the physical ICA offices in Paris as of 17 March 2020 and until further. As a French association ICA must play its part in limiting the transmission of COVID-19 and as a manager I need to consider the well-being of ICA staff. The Secretariat will continue to operate virtually, and we ask for your understanding during this time. Staff can still be reached via email and through virtual meeting spaces. ICA will continue to carry out its work and fulfil its mission to promote the preservation and use of archives around the world.
In the intervening period I would ask for all archivists and records professional to follow and respect the instructions you are receiving from your governments. Social isolation and confinement are necessary measures to prevent the spread of this disease and protect those most vulnerable to its effects. We must act collectively and together, if we are to counteract the transmission of this disease. During these difficult times I hope as well that we will support and help those around us, neighbour or stranger.
I stand in solidarity with professionals and people around the world, wishing you all to be safe and please be assured of ICA’s continued support.

Dr Anthea Seles
Secretary General
