Important records and archives are being created by local televisions but are not always kept in good conditions.
In order to ensure co-operation between archives and local televisions, four different institutions in Cataluña and Andorra have created a permanent monitoring body comprising 20 institutions and organizations, 11 local televisions and 9 archives: the Observatorio Permanente de Archivos y Televisiones Locales (OPATL).
The possibility of transfering this experience in other contexts where there is a similar situation lead to the development by the OPATL of a best practices publication to offer a generic model adaptable to any environment.
The guidelines are available in English, French, Spanish and Catalan. A short version has been prepared in Arabic, Russian, Japanese and Hindi (Resource centre).
