With the ICA’s 9th Conference fast approaching, be sure to take a look at the preliminary programme to help plan out your visit.
The Conference will take place in Rome, Italy, from 21-23 September, and it will be the first encounter of two New Professionals cohorts with the ICA and archival community. If you would like to meet them and know more about the projects that they have designed and implemented in their terms, we invite you to attend the two sessions scheduled during #ICARoma2022.
We can’t wait to see you there!
New Professionals Sessions
Whose Stories Do We Tell?: Practical Actions Towards an Inclusive Digitisation Strategy
DAY 1: Wednesday 21 September – 10:30-12:00 CET
In this panel the 2020/2021 ICA New Professionals cohort builds upon the results of their survey ‘Whose Stories do we Tell?’, a survey that questioned the implications a digitisation strategy could have on marginalised groups, by identifying the key gaps and needs of the participants who responded. Through conversations with guests, and case studies, they will discuss practical actions and small steps the archival community could take to begin to resolve these issues.
Gaps: An Analysis of the Roles, Responsibilities and Challenges of New Professionals Today
DAY 2: Thursday 22 September – 9:00-10:30 CET
In this panel the 2021/2022 New Professional cohort will present and discuss the results of the adapted 2016 New Professionals survey. This survey has explored who new professionals are, what their employment journey looks like and how these new professionals could be more supported. There will be a follow up on the original recommendation made by the 2016 cohort, as well as new recommendations for the archives field to better support emerging new professionals.
