ICA’s Programme Commission’s (PCOM) meeting in Reykjavik addressed the budget proposal for 2016, preliminary project proposals for funding and overall assessment of the PCOM projects.
 
The participants discussed the terms of reference and the need for potential members of the new expert group on legal matters in archives and records management with the immediate remit of working on comparative national archival legislation.
The African Strategy document was approved and will be presented to the Executive Board of the ICA. Also the New Professionals Programme with its six new bursary holders was brought to the attention of the meeting.
General Director Eirikur Gudmundsson from the National Archives of Iceland thanked the conference Programme Committee for its efforts and presented statistics about the event which takes place in Reykjavik: almost 500 registered participants, 76 nationalities, 169 received papers, 74 presentations, 8 workshops, 25 ICA meetings. The abstract book will be available online.
The South Korean delegation then took the floor with professor Nam presenting the ongoing preparations for the 2016 congress in Seoul. Professional content of the congress and the process for collecting the proposals were covered in a lively conversation. The call for the proposals will be launched in October.
The Programme Committee drives the ICA’s technical and professional programme. PCOM comprises senior professionals from all over the world with different areas of expertise. PCOM specifies strategic directions for ICA’s intellectual capital and decides on funding for relevant projects.
