Access: ethical, legal and technical issues
The EASTICA members met in Seoul (South Korea) on 31st May 2010 and had a seminar on access chaired by Mr Masaya Takayama, president of the National Archives of Japan and chairman of EASTICA.
The participants shared their views, experience and expertise in the field of access in particular from the ethical, moral, legal and practical point of view on the basis of various presentations.
They agreed on the necessity to develop laws and regulations adapted to needs in this field and to better address users’ expectations.
The last night, “the EASTICA night”, was an unforgettable moment: participants, including the members of the ICA executive Board, which was having its meeting at the end of the week, and delegations participating to the IACE exhibition and seminar, had a nice dinner in front of the main entrance of the National Archives of Korea, listening to the local drums and enjoying lively dances, to which they were invited to participate.
Mr Takayama in his speech thanked Dr Park, president of the National Archive of Korea, and his team for having organized so perfectly such a memorable week.
