The European Regional Branch of the ICA is one of the largest entities within ICA, bringing together over 900 members. It aims to support its members through the dissemination and promotion of archival best practice both in Europe and beyond. Following a highly successful general meeting during the Rome conference last year, it was decided to hold a number of public lectures aimed at further dissemination of European projects and initiatives. The first of these lectures will be held virtually on Tuesday 30 May 2023 at 14.00 CET. The plan is to hold other lectures in mid-July and during the first week of September 2023.

The European Digital Treasures Project

The main goal of the European Digital Treasures (EDT) project, funded by the European Commission, was to increase the visibility of archives to a wider public and to reposition archives in the social and economic fabric of Europe. Within the framework of the project, these goals have been achieved through a very large number of activities as far as it was within the possibilities of the participating institutions. New business models, transmedia exhibitions, crowdsourcing initiatives, involvement of the youth and the older generation, cooperations with the film industry and the development of intelligent games for entertaining knowledge transfer are only a few and by far not all areas that have been addressed by the project participants. The aim of the presentation is to present the most important activities through selected concrete examples and to convey the experience that coordinated efforts of very different institutions from all parts of Europe can bring amazing results to light.
