The Commission on Spanish Standards of Archival Description (CNEDA) has formally approved the complete Spanish Conceptual Model of Archival Description (NEDA-MC). It is available on the CNEDA’s website (http://www.mecd.gob.es/cultura-mecd/areas-cultura/archivos/mc/cneda/). The NEDA-MC includes the part approved in 2012 that identifies the entities and relationships, and incorporates as a novelty the list of attributes for records, agents, functions, relationships and also the control attributes of descriptive records. The purpose of CNEDA in developing this document is a clear reflection of the evolution in Archival Description, moving from a mono-entity scheme, focused almost exclusively on records, to a multidimensional or multi-entity scheme, oriented to the description of several related entities. Also, CNEDA is preparing a new edition of NEDA-MC, that will be published as an official publication this year, and we hope to have available an English version as soon as possible. Finally, one of CNEDA’s priorities now is to analyze the complete alignment with RiC-CM, and when it is finally approved we should review the NEDA-MC and identify the equivalences between them.
