What you will find in this resource:

This is a companion guideline to Establishing a Records Management Program – Guidelines for Professional Associations. A central activity of any efficient and effective records management program is determining how long records should be kept. Accountable retention and destruction of records, following directions in a schedule approved by an association’s governing body, will ensure that records required for the ongoing administrative and long term research purposes are kept for as long as they are needed. A model retention schedule is provided based on the functional analysis principles of ISO 15489 Records Management standard and guidelines are outlined providing advice to associations on how to adapt the model and develop their own schedule.
