Lewis Bellardo


Lew Bellardo has had a long and distinguished career as an archivist in the United States, from Deputy State Archivist at Kentucky Department of Libraries and Archives (1972-1980) to Deputy Archivist of the United States and Chief of Staff at the National Archives and Records Administration (1995-2007), before becoming Senior Adviser to the Archivist of the United States. He has produced numerous publications and papers on archival matters, besides leading a number workshops and courses. He is a Fellow of the Society of American Archivists. For ICA he has served as Vice-President Programme 2008- 2012, member of Executive Board and MCOM (2008-2012) and since 2009 he has been a FIDA trustee. He has been a member of the ISO Committee on Records Management and Archives from 2000, heading the US Delegation in 2006. He was also a member of the Committee on Preservation (1992-1996) and US representative for ICA in Budapest in 1985.
