The Programme Commission’s (PCOM) meeting in Girona concentrated on discussions of current projects, updates from expert groups work and briefings of future events. Almost all of the PCOM members were present.

Municipal Archivist Joan Boadas I Raset thanked the participants for coming to Girona and presented impressive statistics about the event:  over 850 registered participants, 90 nationalities, 250 submitted papers, 136 presented papers, 12 workshops, 9 topics, 6 keynote speakers.

The torch was then passed on as the National Archivist Eirikur Gudmundsson presented the ICA 2015 conference plan and programme. The National Archives of Iceland will host the Annual Conference in Reykjavik between 18 and 22 September 2015. Gudmundsson expressed his pleasure at hosting the next ICA meeting and informed members that the title of the professional conference programme would be “Archives as one of the pillars of modern society”.
Among other issues on the agenda were the ongoing development of the multilingual online archival terminology database and the Africa strategy. For the latter a task force has been established in cooperation with FAN to carry out a pilot in the field records management.
ICA’s professional programme represents the combined efforts of ICA’s network of volunteers to meet the organisation’s aims and objectives. The Programme Commission comprises senior professionals from all over the world with different areas of expertise. PCOM outlines directions and decides on funding for relevant projects.
