Application deadline 18 July 2019 (23:59 Paris time)
The ICA Programme Commission (PCOM) provides bursary awards to 10 or more ICA Members (Individual or Institutional Members in good standing, meaning that dues up to and including the current year have been paid before the application deadline) who have submissions accepted for presentation at the Annual Conference. These awards are to encourage Members to attend the annual conference by supporting their travel cost, and to involve our Members in the research and dissemination of archival scholarship. Individual presentations, panels, workshops, lightning talks, and interactive discussions submissions all qualify for consideration, authored or co-authored by an applicant.
The recipients receive a cash award of € 700 to help defray expenses incurred in attending the conference, such as conference registration, airline/train fare, lodging, and meals paid by the recipient. Recipients are encouraged to seek additional funding, as the bursaries will usually not cover the full expenses of the conference. Recipients traveling from outside Australia may ask for an additional sum of up to € 300 to help them cover the cost of travel.
The funds will be transferred to the recipient’s bank account AFTER the conference. ICA will not pay in advance of travel.
The bursaries are meant for ICA Members who have submissions accepted for presentation at the Annual Conference. Any (co-)author of an Individual presentations, panels, workshops, lightning talks, or interactive discussions taking part in the presentation at the conference is eligible if she or he is also an ICA Member (Individual, Institutional in good standing, meaning dues up to and including the current year have been paid before the application deadline). When applying for the bursary, each author must send a separate application form.
Applications from Members from developing countries will be prioritized.
Members of Category A, B, C or D must be already registered in the ICA membership system.
Winning applications are chosen by a review panel composed of members of the Programme Commission, based on 1) the scholarly quality of the applicants’ already accepted submissions to the Annual Conference and the answers to the questionnaire they attach to their bursary applications as well as 2) the committee’s intention to choose applications that represent a diverse applicant pool.
The application must be submitted in writing (by letter, fax or e-mail) no later than 18 July 2019 at 23:59 (CEST Time in France). Please use the PCOM Bursary Application Form: https://www.ica.org/en/pcom-bursary-application-form (Members only).
