Yaounde 2018: Memorandum of Understanding Signature

Les hauts dignitaires des institutions camerounaises et la presse étaient invités à assister à la Signature du MoU

ICA Secretary General Anthea Seles, Program Officer Jessica Squires and Marketing and Communication Manager Christine Trembleau went to Yaounde to prepare the ICA Conference taking place next November.

M. Paul Biya, President of the Republic, expressed his full support to Dr Esther Olembe, Director of the National Archives for the conference’s organization. The ICA representatives reached out to Cameroon’s archival community: they made an intervention to Yaounde’s archival school students (ESSTIC) and met the members of the new Association of Cameroonian archivists.

The Memorandum of Understanding’s signature ceremony took place Wednesday 9 May. Professor Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, Minister of Arts and Culture, insisted in his speech on the governments involvement in this conference which underlines the arc hives modernization policy led by Cameroon. On her part, the Secretary General highlighted ICA’s will to bring support, tools and expertise, to this nation-level project as well as to African States in general.

The Conference will take place from 26 to 28 November in Yaounde’s Congress center under the theme “Archives: Governance, Memory and Heritage”.
