Biography:
North Carolina Collection photographic archivist at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (since 2003). He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in photography (Rochester Institute of Technology, 1982), and Master of Arts in museology (John F. Kennedy University's Center for Museum Studies in San Francisco, 1992). He was Assistant Curator of, then Curator of Photographs at the California Historical Society (1983–1988), and Curator of Visual Collections at the Indiana Historical Society (1988–2002). As a member of the Society of American Archivists, he has served as Visual Materials Section Chair (1994–1995, 2009–2010), and as a Metadata and Digital Objects Roundtable steering committee member (2005–2008).
