Ryder KOUBA

My experience as a digital archivist has focused on preservation of born digital materials; at both the University of Houston and AUC I have implemented a system based on the OAIS model for preservation and access to collection material. I use FTK Imager to create disk images, and have trained staff in using it. I also manage the institutional repository running DSpace as well as uploading digitized material to our CONTENTdm server to provide access. An issue that is important to me is providing access to born-digital materials; besides a personal interest and belief in the importance of access, I work at an institution that needs to provide access due to the difficulty in visiting us. However, working out how to provide reading room access to born-digital materials is also important, particularly with sensitive records. Currently, I am setting up our ArchivesSpace account, and have created documentation and trained staff in entering data. Besides FTK Imager, I have worked with BitCurator, Duke DataAccessioner, Handbrake, NARA File Analyzer, and DROID.
