Jill Delaney

Jill Delaney is a Senior Archivist in Specialized Media at Library and Archives Canada, where she has worked with the Photography Collection since 1998. Jill holds a doctorate in Art and Architectural History and Theory from SUNY-Binghamton. Her work focuses on the acquisition and appraisal of private documentary photography, but she has extensive experience with the appraisal of government photography as well.
Her publications include: “John Vanderpant’s Canada” in The Cultural Work of Photography in Canada (2011), “An Inconvenient Truth. Scientific Photography and Archival Ambivalence” (2008), and “Karsh and the “Face of Canada”” (2001). Jill is the archivist for the Yousuf Karsh fonds at LAC and is the lead at LAC for the Mountain Legacy Project, which uses repeat photography of historic land survey images to analyze environmental change in Canadian mountain landscapes.
