The International Council on Archives (ICA) invites members to contribute to Issue No. 48 of Flash, ICA’s biannual digital magazine, to be published in June/July 2026 which will focus on the theme When Archives Meet AI: Ethics, Sustainability, and Professional Responsibility.
Artificial Intelligence is increasingly shaping archival work, from automated description to tools supporting access, audiovisual archives, and community initiatives. At the same time, AI raises significant questions around ethics, environmental impact, equity, and professional responsibility. This issue explores how archivists can uphold justice, human rights, and democratic values in technology-driven environments.
We welcome critical reflections, case studies, and professional experiences from both highly digitised contexts and settings where AI remains distant from daily practice.
